CV Anatol Toth

Praised for his “extraordinary lyrical sensitivity of tone” and highly expressive performances, Swiss violinist Anatol Toth has established himself as one of the most promising young musicians of his generation.

Born in Switzerland in 2003 to a German-Hungarian-Swiss family, Anatol discovered his love for the violin at the age of three. When he was two years old, his family left Switzerland and spent several years traveling the world in a camper van. Exposure to different cultures and extraordinary experiences during these formative years nurtured a deep appreciation for music’s power to connect people and transcend borders.

Since 2014, Anatol has received numerous First Prizes with Distinction at both the Swiss and German National Youth Music Competitions. He has appeared at festivals throughout Italy, France, and Germany, and at the age of fifteen was awarded the WDR Classic Prize, leading to live broadcasts on WDR and MDR. A particularly significant milestone was his performance at the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn, where he received the Hermann Abs Prize for the best interpretation of a work by Beethoven.

Anatol is a prizewinner of several major competitions, including the International Louis Spohr Competition, the Migros Culture Competition, and the Rahn Music Competition.
In June 2026 he won the New York Violin competition and will play in consequence in the Carnegie Hall the Dvorak Violin Concerto 2027-11-08.

He made his orchestral debut at the age of eleven and has since performed at the Residenz Theatre in Munich and with the Basel Symphony Orchestra at the Stadtcasino Basel.

Anatol Toth is a proud recipient of a Kovner Fellowship at The Juilliard School. He is pursuing his Master of Music degree under the guidance of Mark Steinberg. His former teachers include Miriam Fried, Barbara Doll, György Pauk, and Gyula Stuller. He has participated in masterclasses with Leonidas Kavakos, Midori, Ana Chumachenco, Mihaela Martin, David Takeno, and Cathy Cho.

Outside of music, Anatol is a passionate swimmer and an avid chess player, having twice competed in the Junior European Chess Championship.
